If you would like to receive multiple adoptions for multiple recipients please place separate orders for each adoption. This will not affect your overall cost as shipping and handling are set for each adoption. Wanda is an adult female warthog who had eight piglets when AWF staff first saw her. Although warthog litters typically consist of two to five piglets, it was Wanda’s unusually large litter of eight that first caught AWF’s attention. Tails all held high as they trotted across the acacia-studded grassland, Wanda and her piglets were headed for the safety of an underground burrow . Once Wanda’s piglets are safely in their burrow, Wanda will back herself in, her tusks facing out, ready to charge any predator that threatens. She will not emerge from her underground chamber until daylight. Before Wanda leads her litter out in the morning, she will have to check around carefully. Lions have been observed waiting patiently near warthog burrows, ready to pounce on their unsuspecting prey the minute they venture out. Wanda will make sure no predators are around before herding her piglets above-ground for another day of grazing on Africa’s grasslands. More information on Wanda is included in the Factsheet, which will be delivered, along with a plush warthog and a personal adoption certificate (suitable for framing) to you or the person of your choice. Your adoption gift also includes an annual African Wildlife Foundation membership, and one-year subscription to our quarterly “African Wildlife News.”
